Q: HI THERE! CAN YOU INTRODUCE YOURSELF AND TELL US WHAT’S YOUR POSITION IN THE COMPANY?
A: Hi everyone; my Mandarin name is Chan Yu Hsuan, my English name is Tina, and I work as IT Administrator manager in the Switzerland and Spain offices.
Q: WHAT DO YOU DO IN YOUR JOB?
A: My responsibilities encompass managing all users and overseeing the offices across both locations. This includes setting up meeting room equipment, overseeing the management of user-fixed assets, and providing daily helpdesk support, among other tasks.
Q: WHAT IS THE TASK YOU ENJOY THE MOST AND FIND MOST FULFILLING? AND THE ONE YOU FIND MORE CHALLENGING?
A: Engaging with users and delving into their issues is something I truly enjoy. Not all users are alike, and some may lack patience, which can occasionally make the interaction more challenging. But overall there’s a profound sense of fulfilment that comes from resolving these issues and witnessing their satisfaction.

Q: LET’S TAKE YOUR JOURNEY BACK TO THE BEGINNING FOR A MINUTE. WHAT MOTIVATED YOU TO CHOOSE A CAREER IN THE IT INDUSTRY?
A: In my circle of family and friends, I am always the go-to person for any IT-related issues, a role I find quite enjoyable. When I was seeking a career that would utilize my Mandarin and English language skills, I came across an IT Helpdesk support position. That marked the beginning of my journey in the IT industry.
Q: CAN YOU SHARE SOME OF THE CHALLENGES YOU FACED AS A WOMAN IN THE IT INDUSTRY AND HOW YOU OVERCAME THEM?
A: One of the main issues was the gender imbalance. There were significantly fewer women in my field, which sometimes led to feelings of isolation or being underestimated.
To overcome this, I focused on building a strong network of supportive colleagues and mentors, both male and female, who valued my abilities and contributions. I also sought out opportunities for professional development to continuously improve my skills and prove my competence.
Q: CAN YOU SHARE YOUR EXPERIENCE WHEN FUNPLUS HIRED YOU, AND HOW IT FELT TO BE RECOGNIZED FOR YOUR CAPABILITIES BEYOND GENDER BIASES?
A: The interview process required me to meet with various individuals multiple times. When FunPlus informed me that I was chosen, I was thrilled. It felt like all my hard work had paid off and that I was recognized and accepted within the IT industry.
Q: HOW HAS WORKING AT FUNPLUS TRANSFORMED YOUR PROFESSIONAL LIFE?
A: Working at FunPlus has broadened my horizons. I have the best colleagues and a team that fully supports me. This experience has shown me that the working environment can indeed be delightful.
Q: IN WHAT WAYS DOES FUNPLUS CELEBRATE INDIVIDUAL STRENGTHS AND FOSTER A SUPPORTIVE ENVIRONMENT?
A: FunPlus fosters an environment that motivates employees to learn and apply their knowledge in their daily tasks. It’s a space where no one is afraid to experiment with new ideas.
Q: HOW CAN WE WORK TOWARDS CREATING A MORE INCLUSIVE AND BALANCED FUTURE IN THE IT INDUSTRY?
A: It is really important that companies should actively seek to hire diverse candidates. Ensure equal opportunities for all employees. This includes equal pay and equal access to promotions and leadership positions. And foster a respectful culture that addresses any instances of discrimination or harassment immediately and effectively.
Q: WHAT MESSAGE WOULD YOU LIKE TO CONVEY TO THE WOMEN WHO ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT TECHNOLOGY AND ASPIRE TO MAKE A MARK IN THE IT INDUSTRY?
A: Pursue what you love! Don’t be swayed by societal expectations, and most importantly, enjoy the journey!!
Q: CAN YOU SHARE YOUR FUTURE PLANS AND GOALS IN YOUR CAREER WITH FUNPLUS? HOW DO YOU PLAN TO CONTINUE YOUR JOURNEY OF BREAKING BARRIERS AND FOSTERING INCLUSIVITY IN THE IT INDUSTRY?
A: Currently I study “full-time” with a software development degree; I hope that in a few years, I can become a developer and contribute my knowledge as a woman to the IT industry in a different way.

A: To me, fun is about enjoying every moment and not being ashamed of what you’ve done. It’s about embracing your inner child!
