FunPlus, one of the world’s top strategy game developers, announced joining the Green Game Jam, an annual initiative by Playing for the Planet, to introduce an engaging and impactful campaign within the popular strategy game State of Survival, that players can download now for free on iOS or Android and PC. The campaign aims to raise awareness about environmental issues and encourages players to take actions that contribute to a better future for our planet.
The forthcoming campaign, aptly named “The Apocalypse is Already Happening to Animals,” will run globally from June 1 to June 7, coinciding with World Environment Day which takes place on June 5. Through this immersive experience, players will have the opportunity to witness the devastating consequences of deforestation and wildfires in the Amazon, gaining a first-person perspective of the destruction faced by flora and fauna.
As part of the campaign, State of Survival will feature in-game messages that will encourage players to support environmental preservation. These Information Capsules will be available for players to explore during the campaign period by clicking on their Settlement and accessing the Broadcast Center. By fostering a sense of empathy and urgency, FunPlus and Green Game Jam aim to inspire players to take tangible actions both in the game and their daily lives, leading to a collective effort in safeguarding our environment.
“Our participation in the Green Game Jam represents a significant step forward in our commitment to social responsibility. Through State of Survival, we have the opportunity to raise awareness and drive positive change for the environment among a huge community of players”, said Chris Petrovic, Chief Business Officer at FunPlus. “We believe in the power of gaming in making a difference and are looking forward to engaging State of Survival players on this topic too.”
The Green Game Jam brings gaming studios together and challenges each studio to implement “green activations” into their games. The goal of the Green Game Jam is to accelerate the speed at which the gaming industry takes action for the environment and to create an industry where games are not only seen as a form of entertainment, but also as an educational and inspirational tool to activate people on environmental topics. FunPlus is delighted to align itself with the Green Game Jam’s vision and strategy, making it an ideal partner for this significant undertaking.
“While there is a long way to go, we’ve been really impressed with the creativity and commitment shown by the games industry to act on the environmental agenda to date”. said Sam Barratt, Chief of Youth, Education & Advocacy at the UN Environment and Co-Founder of the Playing for the Planet Alliance. “The reach and connection to billions of audiences is peerless, and working with studios in the Alliance has started to reveal what is possible in this sector.”
FunPlus and Green Game Jam invite players around the world to join them in this groundbreaking environmental campaign within State of Survival.

About the Green Game Jam
The Green Game Jam is an annual initiative by the Playing for the Planet Alliance where gaming studios are challenged to implement ‘green activations’ into their existing games. The goal of the Green Game Jam is to accelerate the number of gaming studios that take action for the environment by making use of their reach. Playing for the Planet envisions a gaming industry where games are not only seen as a form of entertainment, but also as an educational and inspirational tool to activate people on environmental topics.
