FUNPLUS EXPANDS THE WORLD OF ‘SEA OF CONQUEST: PIRATE WAR’ WITH AN OFFICIAL COMIC SERIES ‘CRADLE OF THE GODS’

The comic will be showcased for the first time at New York Comic Con (NYCC), where fans can meet the artist Simone D’Armini and receive a limited edition comic for free.
Greater Zurich Area, Switzerland – October 9, 2024 – FunPlus, one of the world’s largest independent game companies, has announced the official comic series Sea of Conquest: Cradle of the Gods set in the immersive world of their strategy game Sea of Conquest: Pirate War. In this first transmedia project for the company, FunPlus embarks on its ambition of expanding its renowned IPs across multiple entertainment mediums. The series of comics will be available for free and released digitally monthly, over the course of ten months.
Cradle of the Gods, embarks on an epic adventure through treacherous seas and uncharted waters. Readers will follow the perilous journey of three childhood friends—Lavender, Cecily, and the infamous pirate Henry Hell—as they navigate the dangerous Devil Seas. Along the way, they will clash with rival pirates, encounter mysterious forces, and battle the dark magic of the Ancient Order. With friendship, loyalty, and ambition tested at every turn, this 10-issue series promises to bring fans closer to the intricate, dangerous world of Sea of Conquest. The series boasts an impressive creative team of world-class comics talent, whose unique styles and visions bring this story to life. Cradle of the Gods is written by the esteemed duo of Griffin Sheridan and Ethan S. Parker, hot off co-writing the hit series Kill Your Darlings from Image Comics. Sheridan has been immersed in the comic world from a young age and made his industry debut with Darlings, while Parker brings his extensive experience in comics and podcasts to the table.
Cradle of the Gods is illustrated by a rotating cast of artists, with colors by Michael Woods and letters by Luca Bertelè. Issue #1 is drawn by series artist Simone D’Armini, a Rome-born illustrator with a rich portfolio that includes collaborations with Marvel, Disney, and Riot Games, as well as his recent graphic novel Macbeth: A Tale of Horror. D’Armini will also be part of the NYCC Artist Alley in Booth D-10 from October 17 to 20, and fans are encouraged to visit him to receive his signature, a sketch, and a free limited edition copy of the comic.
