About PlanetPlay

To provide content, PlanetPlay is a disruptive non-profit organization (NPO), harnessing the power of over 3 billion players within a $190+ billion industry to effect change through the best games and biggest superstars in the world. 100% of the proceeds generated by PlanetPlay are dedicated to environmental sustainability.

They are on a mission to make it easy for people to make positive change by playing the games they already play and love, without changing how they do it. As a response to that mission, PlanetPlay teamed up with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to launch an exciting new initiative, Play2Act. This unique collaboration aims to harness the power of the gaming community to address urgent climate and environmental crises impacting our planet.

What is Play2Act?

Play2Act is an innovative in-game poll designed to gather player perspectives on how video games can contribute to tackling climate change and protecting nature. For instance, by seamlessly integrating these polls into popular video games, Play2Act allows players to express their opinions on the role of gaming in environmental action, all while staying immersed in their favorite virtual worlds.

Furthermore, the initiative is part of the Games Realising Effective and Affective Transformation (GREAT) project, funded by the European Union’s Horizon program and UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). GREAT seeks to explore how games can be a powerful medium for citizens to engage with critical policy issues, including climate action, from 2023 to 2026.
